Guide to driving with MiRyde

How do airport pickups work?

MiRyde is available at airports for many riders across the world.

For information on how to accept these types of requests:

  1. Go to MiRyde.Ca/DRIVE
  2. Tap the location pin icon in the top right and select your city
  3. Tap "GET THE DETAILS" under "Local information"
  4. Select "Where to Drive"
  5. Scroll to the "Airport information" section

Changing a trip's final destination

Both driver-partners and riders can edit a trip's final destination at any time before the driver-partner swipes End Trip.

To change a trip's destination, tap the Enter destination bar. Type in a new address. Please note this feature is not available on MiRydePOOL trips.
Some locations have similar street names. It's good practice to let riders enter their preferred destinations and then confirm with them.

Making multiple stops on a trip

Riders are able to add up to 2 extra stops on a trip. They can do this within the app.

These additional stops are marked by a black, square icon on your trip map and the final stop is marked by a red square.

When you arrive at one of the mid-trip destinations, there will be a slider at the bottom of the screen that says "CONFIRM STOP".

Sliding this box automatically sets your navigation to the next destination on the rider's trip.

Swipe "End Trip" only after all riders have exited your vehicle at their final stop.

When an extra stop is added during a trip, the time you wait and additional distance travelled is added to the fare.

Note: This feature is not available on MiRydePOOL trips.

Ending a trip

A trip ends when you arrive at the rider's preferred destination. As your vehicle comes to a complete stop, swipe End Trip. Your app will prompt you to rate your trip experience.

Stop or park as close as possible to the final destination address.

While many riders will input an exact destination address into the app, it's good practice to confirm with riders where they'd like to exit your vehicle. If a road closure or any other barrier makes it difficult to reach the rider's destination, discuss options for stopping nearby.

Keep an eye out for traffic and other road hazards you can help riders avoid. Many riders appreciate it when you open their door and assist with luggage in the trunk.

Accepting cash

MiRyde provides an option to all riders to either pay by cash or use a credit card. If you are on a cash trip, the amount to be collected from the rider is shown as soon as you complete the trip. You can collect the same from the rider. Rider fare and partner fare are not the same in all cases. You can view your trip fare in the earnings tab.

If you are on a non-cash trip, there is no need to ask a rider for cash payment of trip fare. Trip fare including toll charges, if any, will be noted and paid out in the weekly payment cycle.

In case of an accident

We are committed to the safety of everyone using MiRyde. If you have been involved in an accident, please follow these steps:

  2. Notify police and paramedics if necessary.
  3. Contact us.

Getting a trip request

When you're in your vehicle and ready to receive trip requests from nearby riders, tap GO ONLINE.  A pulsing horizontal blue bar at the top of your screen indicates your app is actively receiving trip requests.  Your phone flashes and beeps when you receive a trip request. To accept it, tap anywhere on your screen within 15 seconds.

Getting trip requests while on another trip

We understand that you go online to drive, not wait. To help you limit waiting time between trips, your app may automatically send new trip requests when you near the current trip's final destination.

If you accept a new trip request while on a route with a rider, you'll be directed back to your current trip until it is complete. After you swipe END TRIP and rate your rider, your app will then direct you to your next pickup location.

Requests from underage riders

We understand that you go online to drive, not wait. To help you limit waiting time between trips, your app may automatically send new trip requests when you near the current trip's final destination.

If you accept a new trip request while on a route with a rider, you'll be directed back to your current trip until it is complete. After you swipe END TRIP and rate your rider, your app will then direct you to your next pickup location.

As a driver-partner in a city that doesn't allow minors to ride, you should decline the ride request if you believe the person requesting the ride is under 18. When picking up riders, if you feel they are underage, you may request they provide a driver's license or ID card for confirmation. If a rider is underage, please do not start the trip or allow them to ride.

Set my Driver Destination

WHAT ARE DRIVER DESTINATIONS?

You can set a personal destination in your app, which allows you to only receive trips going along or near the route to your destination. We try to make sure the pickup locations for these trips aren't too far out of your way.

A maximum of two destinations can be set every day. You will not be able to set a destination while you are already on a trip.

SETTING A DESTINATION

1. Tap the menu icon in the top right corner of your app
2. Tap the blue "SET A DESTINATION" button
3. Type in the address of your destination
4. If you are offline, you will be prompted to go online. An orange status bar will appear at the top of the screen, which means Driver Destination mode is active
5. Your destination will appear on the map as a pin with a star icon

Please note that using this feature will likely limit the number of requests you receive, since you'll only be sent requests with routes similar to yours.

When and where are the most riders?

WHEN
In most cities, highest demand for rides occurs during weekends, rush hours, and evening hours.

WHERE
Use your partner app's map to compare areas of varying demand throughout the city. You'll see various color shaded hexagons in different areas. MiRyde's heat map displays different color intensities to indicate areas of low, high, and surging demand for rides.

When you zoom in and out on the map, you'll see surge pricing estimates as multiples. For example, you might see hexagons of 1.3x, 1.4x, or 2.1x.

Can I bring someone with me while I'm online?

In the interest of safety and comfort for riders, friends and family of driver-partners may not ride in their vehicle during a trip. When online, please do not allow other passengers to ride in your vehicle.

Can I use a video camera?

MiRyde allows driver-partners to install and use video cameras to record riders for purposes of safety.

Please note that local regulations may require individuals using recording equipment in vehicles to fully disclose to riders that they are being recorded in or around a vehicle and obtain consent.

Please check local regulations in your city to determine if these apply.

Can I use other apps or receive personal calls while online?

If you go online but then switch to another app before accepting a rider's trip request, a pop-up notification may display every 3 minutes to remind you to go offline if you don't wish to receive requests. When you're on a trip, your app won't send these pop-ups.

Your MiRyde app continues to run when you're using other apps or the phone. GPS info is continually collected to ensure your trips are recorded for accurate fares.

Follow local regulations regarding phone use. Please be mindful that talking on the phone while driving can be distracting and dangerous. Some riders also find this rude and unsafe.

Why are areas in the map color shaded?

Your partner app's map shades certain areas of the city in a color spectrum of yellow, orange, and red. These colors indicate areas with higher current demand for rides.

Use this info to your advantage by heading toward surging areas to receive nearby ride requests. Riders who request pickup in shaded areas have agreed to surge pricing for their trip fares.

Tap the lightning bolt icon at the top right of the map to see the current range of surge pricing in shaded areas.

You can zoom in to shaded areas on the map to see their current surge multipliers displayed as numbers. For example, you may see shaded areas with surge multipliers of 1.3x, 1.5x, or 2.2x.
